EU to partner Niger on Education, Infrastructure

The European Union has expressed readiness to partner with the Niger state government in the area of education and provision of infrastructure.


Speaking during a courtesy call on the Governor, (Dr) Abubaker Sani Bello, the Ambassador of the Union, Mr Michel Arrion, who is also the Head of delegation of west African Union on development, expressed the Union’s commitment to socio-infrastructural development of the state.

Governor Abubakar assured there was enough resources, both human and material, to supervise and utilise whatever the  Union offered the state as support, adding the state  government would equally remain transparent and accountable in managing the partnership.

Specific areas for intervention, according to the Governor, included Agriculture, Road Infrastructure, Rural Development and Education.

At the meeting were ranking state functionaries, including the Deputy Governor, Alh Mohammed Ketso; State Party Chairman, Engr Imam Gawu;  Secretary to the State Government, Alh Ibrahim Isa Ladan and Commissioner for Information, Mr Jonathan Vatsa.

Others were the Commissioner for Justice, Barr Nasara Dan Mallam, Commissioner for Finance, Alh Ibrahim Balarabe; Commissioner for Water Resources, Alh Abubakar Azozo; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Alh Umar Alkali.
