Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has sought Britain’s understanding and partnership in the areas of Agriculture, Education, Mining, Solid Minerals and Infrastructural Development.

Receiving The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, in Minna, Niger state capital, Gov Abu Sani Bello said the partnership would help the state tackle the issue of infrastructure, food shortage and youth unemployment.

According to him, despite financial challenges, Niger state has made progress in improving the state’s infrastructure, especially rural/urban roads, rural electrification, education and health, noting the support would help his administration embark on more developmental projects for the benefit of the people.

He however explained it had been impossible for his government to cut down the state work force, including career and political officers,  despite obvious financial difficulties the state was facing, noting such partnership would help a long way to ease the situation for the state, even as it might help in employing even more.

"My aim is to employ more people and make the state workforce a productive one" he stated.

The Governor urged the people to go into agriculture or learn a trade, noting the state civil service can not contain everyone.
