Al – Qalam University Katsina, State, at the weekend matriculated no fewer than 1400 students in its 12 matriculation ceremony for 2016/2017 academic session.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Shehu Garki Ado, enjoined the students to work hard to excel in their chosen disciplines.
Professor Ado called on the university community to work as a team pointing out that the National Universities Commission (NUC) would in the next two months conduct accreditation visit to 13 courses and five more courses of the university in November this year.
He said, in a statement by Akilu Atiku Abubakar, the Information Officer of the university, the students of the ivory tower should express themselves within the tenets of Islam, traditional norms and values
The Vice-Chancellor also sounded a note of warning, saying that the university authorities would not hesitate to sanction students who engage in any form of misconduct.
Earlier, in a speech, the Registrar of the University, Mallam Sani Abashe Adamu, described the ceremony as another milestone in the history of the university explaining that the students were lucky to join the University considering its unique features as the first Islamic based University in the North-West zone of the Country.
The matriculation ceremony also featured orientation lectures to protect the students against drug abuse, examination malpractices, cultism and sexual harassment and other vices.
