Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state, in his usual style, at the late hours of yesterday paid an unscheduled visit to Maryam Babangida Girls Science College to avail himself with first hand information the state of ongoing work being done by the contractors handling the renovation works of the school.


The governor, who personally drove into the school premises in company of some personalities, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done but however queried the contractor for unnecessary delay in completing the work. He further said that base on the contract agreement reached the contractor ought to have completed the works by now.

While being taken round the school by the Vice Principal Administration, Mal. Mohammed Usman Sani, the Governor showed his utmost dismay over the quality and quantity of meal the students are being served and promise to look inward in reviewing the feeding standard of all boarding schools.

In his show of concern and humility, the Governor immediately put a call to his Commissioner of Education to come over and gave the sum of #120,000 to the school management to prepare a ‘special meal’ for the students that night for them to feel his presence, as he rightly put it.

 Similarly he promised the students a cow to be slaughtered today which will be delivered later today. Both the Commissioner of Education (Haj. Fatima N. Madugu) and other concerned individuals were all present and saw to the preparation of the ‘special meal’ till late last night.
