World Council Summit in Dubai

By Abdullberqy U Ebbo

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, has won the chance to make a presentation at the World Council on Cities Data Summit at the Hotel Armani, Dubai, Burj Khalifa Area, Downtown Dubai, Dubai, United arab Emirates, tomorrow, 7 March 2017.

The recognition which is a consequence of Mr. Governor’s developmental strides in Niger state, will hopefully enable the governor explain plans of his administration to reposition the state not just as an emerging commercial centre in Nigeria but as a potential technology and tourism hub in the continent.

Coming at a time of renewed commitment of the state government to reconnect the communities to access operable and useful data upon which to build development moves of the administration, the Dubai venture ranks as a commendable move, one which will hopefully pave ways for a more enduring partnership between investors, particularly those with bases in Dubai, and the state government.

The need for and usefulness of data in socio-economic progress cannot be overstated. How much of whatever is considered useful for humans and where such is needed at any specific point in time is a question and business of available quality data. Schools, roads, hospitals, piped, portable water, many other social amenities, are what combine to making life live-able for humans. But, because resources needed to provide them are scare in regard of the quantum actually needed, there has to be a move to ascertain the specifics and set the priorities. This is what data does and this is where Governor Bello has scored yet another point in respect of the latest moves to network communities for data generation and budget preparation, a move which has won him the Dubai recognition.

We Nigerlites indeed salute Mr Governor’s strides of progress and commitment.
