Ile-ife crisis.



The Inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris has deployed police special intervention  to restore peace to Ile-Ife and its environs.

According a statement by the Force PRO, Jimoh Moshood, the team comprise five Units of the Police Mobile Force; five Cells of Counter Terrorism Unit; Conventional Policemen, Special Anti Robbery Squad, Intelligence Response Team; Technical Intelligence Unit; SIB; detachment of EOD; Police K9 (Sniffer Dogs Section), with their Headquarters in Ile-Ife.
The team is led by the commissioner of Police in charge of PMF, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Moshood noted that the special intervention team is already on ground working in collaboration with the Osun state police command to restore normalcy.
He explained that the moved became necessary due to curtail the ethnic clashes that occurred on March 8 which led to the destruction of lives and properties.
He further stated that the team wouldcarry out 24 hours surveillance and patrol, stop and search; continuous raids of identified criminal hideouts and black spots and promptly arrest trouble makers and their sponsors
He, therefore, called on all relevant stakeholders to support the team in the discharge of their duties and restore peace to the environment.
