IBB University Sets Up Committee To Investigate Lecturer, Student Escapade
The management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has issued a press statement regarding the unfortunate and sad incident that happened between a Lecturer and a 400 level female student of the institution.
In a press statement credited to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nasiru Muhammed Maiturare On Monday in Lapai reads “Dear members of University community, my name is Professor Muhammad Nasiru Maiturare, Vice Chancellor, IBB University, Lapai, Niger State. You are well aware of the unfortunate incident that has brought our great university into negative limelight”.
The Vice Chancellor noted that “It is indeed a highly embarrassing and deeply regrettably development. The management of the University has set up a committee headed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, with membership including relevant stakeholders to investigate the immediate and the remote causes of this ugly incident”.
Adding that, the University’s management will take appropriate disciplinary measures against any individual found guilty while reassuring members of the University Community, that, the management and the Council are committed to upholding the ideals of the University’s founding fathers, he stressed.
Speaking further, the VC disclosed that “the mischievous act of a few individuals who are bent on tarnishing the good image of the university will not deter us from making IBBUL a great University above its peers. By the special grace of God and the efforts of well-meaning and dedicated staff and students, IBB University is a winner of National and International Awards” he stressed.
He said “our University is indeed blessed with well-behaved and outstanding staff and students who have distinguished themselves in their various disciplines and have become the pride of the University and the role models among their peers”.
He further disclosed that, IBB University is a global brand, well respected in the country of Nigerian Universities and outside the country. As a testimony of our intellectual process, as I speak to you a team of Professors and distinguished scholars from IBB University are in Uganda to undertake research and capacity building programmes financed by the African Development Bank and coordinated by the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa.
The VC concluded, stressing that “IBB University will continue to progress to serve the current generation and generations to come. I therefore urge all members of the University community to remain calm and continue doing their best for the upliftment of our great university”.
